Two weeks ago, we talked about faith like a mustard seed. Jesus’ point was that real faith is not about quantity but quality. Even the smallest, weakest little faith, if it is genuine moves mountains. Faith is the conduit through which God’s limitless resources flow into the world. The world as it is, depends on the unimpeded flow of God’s resources; God’s faithful people play a crucial role in their distribution. Just so, the coming world of God’s reign is connected to the faith of people living on earth. Thus Jesus’ question at the end of the parable of the persistent widow is existential: “Will the Son of Man find faith on earth when he comes?”
