“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

Psalm 25:4-5

Signs are everywhere in life, guiding us and helping us make decisions. Think about driving on a winding road. There are signs that warn us about sharp turns, hills, or slippery conditions ahead. These signs don’t always give us the full picture, but they provide enough information for us to adjust our speed and navigate safely. Imagine if we ignored those signs—how many accidents could happen? In the same way, God often gives us small signs—subtle indications of His plan that require us to move forward in faith, even when we can't yet see the full picture.

Just like driving in unfamiliar territory, following God often means acting on the small signs He provides. Think of Abraham, who stepped out in faith without knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8). Or consider Moses, who faced the Red Sea, with no clear way out, yet trusted that God would part the waters. David, a young shepherd, faced Goliath with only a sling and a stone, trusting God to deliver him. These men didn’t have the full picture, but they took the next step based on the small signs they received. Each of them trusted that God would guide them, even if the path ahead wasn’t clear.

Faith often begins with the smallest of signs. Just like Elijah saw a tiny cloud on the horizon after a long drought and believed a great rain was coming (1 Kings 18), sometimes God’s guidance comes in the form of a subtle whisper, a faint promise, or a tiny shift in our circumstances. It’s easy to doubt, to wonder if that small sign really means anything, or if it’s just a coincidence. Yet, it is through these moments that God invites us to take the next step in faith, trusting that He will unfold His plan for us as we move forward. Elijah’s faith wasn’t in the size of the cloud, it was in the God who sent it.

God's guidance often comes one step at a time, just like those traffic signs. When we trust Him and act on what He’s already shown us, we open ourselves to the greater blessings He has in store. It’s not about seeing the whole journey; it’s about trusting in His presence every step of the way.

As you reflect today, think about the small signs God has placed in your life. What step of faith is He calling you to take based on what He's already shown you? Don’t wait for everything to make sense—trust Him, and take the next step in faith.
