Lt. Colonel George F. Moraveck, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 95. George was born on October 17, 1930, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was raised in Eau Claire.
George proudly served in the United States Air Force, dedicating 22 years to his country and retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His career took him across the country and abroad, including assignments in London, Abilene, Omaha, Washington, D.C., and Norton Air Force Base. He also served in the Pentagon’s Office of the Inspector General. Even while serving, George remained committed to learning, earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Michigan State University.
After his military retirement, George continued a life of public service. He worked as an Information Systems Manager for Riverside Superintendent of Schools and served Riverside County in the position of Deputy Director and Information Technology Director. He retired from county government in 1993. Never one to slow down, George went on to establish his own tax preparation business as an Enrolled Agent, where he assisted many in his community with care and expertise.
Above all, George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 30 loving years of marriage with his wife, Dr. Cassandra Moraveck. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Georgina Woodman (Steve); his stepchildren, Damond Robinson (Sharmaine), Shanta Darden (Tom), and Chandra Edinburgh; as well as his grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, James F. Moraveck. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Billie Moraveck, in Connecticut, and their five children, eight grandchildren, and many cousins in Wisconsin.
George was a man of faith and a devoted member of the Palm Springs SDA Church, where he served as a deacon and found great joy in his church family. His kindness, steady presence, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of service, faith, and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
